Asclepias purpuracens, purple milkweed seeds
Asclepias purpuracens, purple milkweed seeds
Asclepius purpuracens, commonly known as purple milkweed, is a striking milkweed species native to the central and eastern United States. This beautiful plant is recognized for its vibrant purple and green foliage and serves as a crucial host plant for monarch butterflies.
In many of its native states, it is an endangered or threatened species of milkweed. Conservation efforts are essential to protect and restore its native range, ensuring the survival of this species and the vital pollinator species it supports.
5 years ago I purchased three plants in a retail garden center, and established a patch on my property that luckily thrived. These seeds are collected from those plants.
Both the plants and seeds are hard to find commercially. Please take care and responsibility to be a good steward of the seeds, and we can make a difference together!
Planting instructions will ship with the seeds.
